Traffic Flow
The majority of visitors to Coronation Shopping Centre were concentrated on the first floor due to the large NTUC supermarket selling food and commodities. The area outside the mall was a popular place for visitors to wait after visiting the mall.
The flow of pedestrians through the mall was similar for both levels two and three due to the mall's simple layout. In Coronation Shopping Plaza, escalators were located in the center with stairs on either end. That meant that visitors would enter each floor through the escalators and continue to either wing. During our visits to either floor, we noticed that there were only one or two people who took the stairs.
Also, there were benches and massage chairs surrounding the center portion of floor two and threes. These created natural places for people to wait - teenagers waiting for classes to start or to be picked up, parents waiting for their children and the older folks people-watching.
